We named our band after the Carpathians, the mountains that surround the Hungarian ethnicity and have become the symbol of this region. The archaic layer of the Hungarian folk music represents the base of our music. We learn the tunes and also how to play the instruments from archival recordings and from village musicians who are still alive. Our aim is twofold. |
|
On the one hand, we would like to present authentic Hungarian folk music to the world. On the other, starting from the roots we would also like to create contemporary music. We are convinced that with our special acoustic instruments and with the traditional tunes and lyrics we can express the emotions and thoughts of the people of our age. Therefore, our members keep experimenting in other music genres, such as alternative, ethno-jazz, world music and historical music. We believe in Béla Bartók and in other famous Hungarian geniuses who confess that -for an Eastern-European- artist folklore is inevitable. |
