This recording captures the most traditional art forms of the music from the Carpathian-basin area. An era in our cultural history came to an end with the passing of the performers of these vocal and instrumental songs.
Although total perfection may not have been achieved in our two and half hour recording, the authenticity and variety of it will give enjoyment and understanding to all people, who appreciate ethnic music. To accomplish this, we have included instrumental dance and vocal music, songs of popular customs and religions. In consideration of the ethnic diversity in the country (Roumanian, Hucul, Slovakian, German, Jewish and Gipsy ) a collection of their songs are also included.

Sólyom Pál verbunkja

Most of the songs were recorded in the rural locations, making reproduction impossible. The performers leave us behind, the records age with time and because of shortage of funds they are beginning to deteriorate in the archives. Coupled with the largest cultural invasion of our history, much of the traditional values of this music have been destroyed. For this reason, to restore the outdated recordings, we have used the highest quality and technical equipment in the production of this CD. We did this believing, we will succeed in making the folk culture appealing to all ages for generations to come.
