THE 5th SEVEN TOWERS FESTIVAL |
Feeling of tradition |
Budapest, 3–5. November 2006 |
Music used to be undevidable from feasts. About 10 years ago Etnofon Records joined those who aimed with their efforts at lifting Hungarian folk music and the music of nations living with Hungarians to the range of "feast" again. Etnofon has prepared the festival program according to this aim. Recommandation „...the enormous treasure, lying in the depth of the Seven Towers, is guarded by the Friend; sometimes, in the night, he can be seen offering the keys to the treasure, whilst walking with steps reaching above the valleys and with head reaching the moon. The treasure comprises everything that can be found on the divine Hungarian land: golden trees, fruits, grape liths, all kinds of animals, potable gold instead of the vine, golden biddies covering golden eggs, golden stones, and those who may enter, are allowed to collect, whatever they desire, until an hour before midnight. Then the gates to the Seven Towers close with an earth-shaking bang; if the lucky happens to remain in there, he shall wait for years or centuries, until someone other comes for to free him. The item he takes with him, will bring luck to him throughout his entire life; however, the most precious pieces of the endless treasure are a cross, the blessed Virgin and the twelve Apostles carved from gold; the one who dares to touch these, will immediately be struck by death. If somebody could still take them out, richness of the Hungarian land would be gone outright, and the country would become desolate and abandoned.” (Arnold Ipolyi: Hungarian Mythology - Pest, 1854)
Since centuries the symbolics of the Seven Towers have appeared many times
in the Hungarian cultural history. Our publishing company, which sets its
goal to be the broadcaster of music with folklore origin eleven years ago,
thinks that this legend is a timely symbol again.
