Kati Szvorák & Stonemasons

Kati Szvorák - as a folk singer - has given more than 2000 concerts in 37 countries on three continents in the past 20 years. So far she has released almost 20 independent albums and since the spring of 1999 she has given concerts with the members of the band called Stonemasons. The concerts feature traditional folk music from the whole Carpathian basin as well as modern adaptations. The group is at its best when playing a very particular, specific and individual sort of free folk, rich in free interpretation and improvisations.

In the past few months Kati Szvorák and Stonemasons have given concerts at a number of places: at the Hungarian Institute of Prague and Brno (Czech Republic), at the Hungarian Cultural Institute in Sophia (Bulgaria), at the Gussing Music Festival and the Music Academy in Vienna (Austria), at the Edinburgh Folk Festival (Scotland), where their concert was broadcast by the Glasgow BBC radio, and in September they gave a performance at the Hirschhorn Festival in Germany. They released an album featuring the concert recordings of their American tour: Meotis-RepER-CD 032 1999
