Zurgó: Moldvai csángó népzene
Hungarian folk music from Moldva
ER-CD 014

Our ensemble was formed in October 1993 to learn and present the music and traditions of the Hungarian people of Moldavian living over the border of historical Hungary. It is important for us to bring harmony the recreation with the interpretation of the material besides having the Moldavian ’csángó’ folk music sounded authentically. We publish this record as a summary of our work and experiences up to the present.
We would like to thank the professional and kindly help of the following people: Sándor Balogh, Pál Havasréti and members of Tatros Ensemble. We would like to express our gratitude to the ’Ezredforduló’ (Turn of the Millennium) Foundation, too, for its financial support. We have learnt most of our music from the folllowing Moldavian musicians: László András Legedi and his son, László István Legedi, András Hodorog from Klézse (whistle), Tódor Bogdán from Pusztina, Márton Fehér from Rekecsin, Antal Veres and Antal Gábor from Lujzikalagor (fiddle).
